The School Story

http://www.gtps.k12.nj.us/technology/litcircles5th/schoolstory.jpgThe School Story, a 244 page book by Andrew Clements is about Natalie and her best friend Zoe. Natalie writes a book, but, since her mom is a publisher, she doesn't want special treatment. She hires Zoe as her "find a good person to give the manuscript too" lady. Natalie finishes her book, and comes up with a new name, so that her mom doesn't know that it is her. In the end, her book is published, and it is revealed to her mom that she is the author of this new book at her author's party.

Frindle

http://elementarybookbattle.wikispaces.com/file/view/frindle.gif/84527687/frindle.gifFrindle by Andrew Clements is a 112 page book about Nick Allen, who creates a new word. He pursued it through news reporters, the obnoxious elderly, and sentence after sentence of the same thing: I am writing this sentence with a pen. Every so often, though, everyone would write "I am writing this sentence with a frindle.
He was neither a good student not a bad student, just a creative boy who (almost) always manages to ask questions that put off daily homework. Frindle is the story of a question so good that a war between teachers and students begin.
Can YOU figure out what the word "frindle" means???????
